Gentex Corporation has been awarded a $44.8 million contract to continue supplying advanced HGU-56/P rotary-wing helmet systems for US Army helicopter crews over the next five years. The agreement includes Apache helmet assemblies, replacement components, upgrade kits, and long-term sustainment support to ensure continued operational readiness for Army aviation units. Designed specifically for rotary-wing operations, the HGU-56/P helmet combines impact protection with integrated communications, night vision compatibility, active noise reduction, ballistic protection, and advanced visor systems capable of shielding aircrew from ultraviolet exposure. The modular design allows integration of additional protective equipment including facial protection, windblast shields, and low-light operational systems. Gentex has supported US Army aviation since the 1990s through continuous modernization of pilot equipment, helping improve crew survivability, comfort, and mission effectiveness. The latest contract reinforces the Army’s commitment to maintaining reliable protective systems while ensuring compatibility with evolving aviation technologies and increasingly demanding operational environments.
