Electro Optic Systems (EOS) has secured a defense contract to develop an advanced remote weapon station that integrates a precision laser-guided rocket with a machine gun into a single combat platform. The R400 SLINGER system is specifically engineered to counter the growing threat posed by small and medium-sized unmanned aerial systems while retaining the flexibility to engage conventional ground targets. By combining precision-guided effects with rapid-fire defensive capability, the system offers layered engagement options against evolving battlefield threats. Manufactured and supported entirely within Australia, the project strengthens sovereign defense manufacturing while expanding the country’s indigenous counter-unmanned aircraft capabilities. The development reflects the increasing importance of adaptable remote weapon stations capable of protecting military forces and critical infrastructure against emerging aerial threats.
