Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWEIL) and the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur have established a strategic partnership to accelerate the indigenous development of advanced defense technologies under India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The collaboration combines IIT Kanpur’s expertise in unmanned aerial systems, advanced research, and defense innovation with AWEIL’s large-scale manufacturing and weapons production capabilities. Joint research efforts will focus on unmanned aerial vehicles, ballistic technologies, advanced protection systems, and future military solutions designed to meet the operational requirements of the Indian Armed Forces. By creating an integrated pathway from laboratory research and prototype development to industrial-scale production, the partnership aims to strengthen India’s defense self-reliance, reduce import dependency, and accelerate the deployment of domestically developed military technologies.
