Belgium Orders Polaris MRZR D4 Tactical Vehicles for Special OperationsBelgium has awarded Polaris Government and Defense a $10.6 million contract to supply MRZR D4 tactical all-terrain vehicles for the Belgian Special Operations Regiment, enhancing the mobility and operational effectiveness of its elite forces. The new vehicles will replace the Groundhog fleet that has been in service since 2009, providing a modern platform better suited for operations in challenging terrain and contested environments. The procurement was completed through the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) framework agreement established in September 2025, allowing Belgium to accelerate acquisition while benefiting from standardized equipment, reduced logistics requirements, and improved interoperability with allied forces. Introduced in 2012, the MRZR D4 has been widely adopted by more than 50 allied militaries and has undergone continuous upgrades to meet evolving operational requirements. The four-seat tactical vehicle features a modular architecture, collapsible roll cage for internal air transport, all-wheel drive, one-meter water-fording capability, and a payload capacity of 680 kilograms. Powered by a 55-horsepower turbo-diesel engine, it offers an operational range of up to 322 kilometers. Compatible with aircraft such as the CH-47 Chinook, AW101 Merlin, and V-22 Osprey, the platform supports rapid deployment for personnel transport, casualty evacuation, command and control, reconnaissance, communications, counter-drone missions, and weapons integration, making it a versatile asset for modern special operations forces.
