British Army personnel have completed an intensive two-week training program focused on autonomous logistics operations as part of preparations for Project Convergence Capstone 6, a major multinational military experimentation exercise in the United States. Conducted at the Combat Service Support Trials and Development Unit in Aldershot, the program introduced soldiers to Rheinmetall’s PATH Autonomous Kit integrated into HX2 military trucks. The autonomous driving system combines advanced sensors, artificial intelligence, navigation software, and vehicle control technologies that enable military vehicles to operate independently or within coordinated convoys. Soldiers practiced multiple operational roles including convoy commanders, lead vehicle operators, and safety supervisors while progressing through increasingly demanding scenarios involving off-road movement, obstacle avoidance, disabled vehicles, and dynamic convoy management. The training forms part of Project MAIA, which evaluates how autonomous ground systems can improve military logistics by reducing personnel exposure, increasing convoy efficiency, and maintaining continuous supply operations in contested environments. Lessons learned during Project Convergence will support future modernization of battlefield logistics across allied armed forces.
