The Canadian Department of Defence is laying the foundation for the procurement of tactical unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to work alongside the nation’s future F-35 combat aircraft. Unclassified records reviewed by The Canadian Press suggest the systems will be tailored to meet operational requirements and boost mission effectiveness.

Valued at up to 16 billion Canadian dollars ($11.6 billion), the program will likely require a significant workforce and is designed to strengthen coordination with allied forces while acting as a strategic force enhancer.
