Sofia is exploring the acquisition of over 100 Greek-made Centauros anti-drone systems through the EU’s SAFE defense initiative. Produced by Hellenic Aerospace Industry, the platform has already been deployed on Greek Navy MEKO frigates and is slated for integration on FDI vessels. Designed to jam hostile drone communications and navigation links, the system emphasizes electronic disruption rather than kinetic interception. A next-generation version featuring extended radar detection and hard-kill capability is currently in development. Cyprus is also reviewing the system as part of broader air defense enhancements.
