Leonardo and Baykar Technologies have announced the launch of a new joint venture, LBA Systems, at the International Paris Airshow in Le Bourget. The two companies formalized their partnership following the signing of an MoU in Rome in March 2025. LBA Systems, equally owned by both firms, will be based in Italy and will specialize in unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
This collaboration brings together Baykar’s extensive expertise in unmanned platform development and Leonardo’s leading-edge capabilities in advanced electronic systems, Manned-Unmanned Teaming, swarming, and certification processes. The joint venture will cover the full scope of UAS design, development, manufacturing, and long-term support.
In addition to targeting European and international markets, the companies plan to explore further cooperation across multiple domains, including commercial collaborations on existing platforms and potential joint work in digital ecosystems supporting multi-domain operations.
