Belgium has procured BLAZE kamikaze drones from Latvia to strengthen its anti-UAV defenses, joining a 50-million-euro counter-drone investment package. Brussels is also preparing a 500-million-euro program to expand radar and jamming capabilities, though deployment milestones have not yet been announced. The man-portable BLAZE system is designed to hunt and destroy hostile drones using radar guidance, EO/IR sensors, and AI-enhanced target recognition. It carries a high-explosive fragmentation payload and relies on operator confirmation before striking. The platform includes mission-abort features and self-destruct protocols for safety. BLAZE can be rapidly deployed from a case that doubles as its launcher and charger, enabling assembly in minutes and allowing sequential firings.
