NATO members Estonia, Latvia, and Belgium have started integrating Origin Robotics’ BLAZE interceptor drones into their defense architectures, marking a milestone in European autonomous counter-UAS deployment. The Latvian-designed system, equipped with a NATO-standard warhead module, is designed for seamless alliance interoperability and immediate operational readiness upon delivery. Procurement orders placed in late 2025 are now transitioning into phased deliveries, with evaluation teams conducting integration trials. Unlike traditional counter-drone systems requiring extended setup cycles, BLAZE offers autonomous threat detection and engagement using onboard artificial intelligence, enabling rapid reaction in contested airspace. The initiative positions the three nations at the forefront of Europe’s autonomous air defense evolution and highlights a broader trend toward domestically produced, AI-enabled interception technologies across NATO.
