Red Cat Holdings has confirmed that a second Asia-Pacific military customer has selected its Black Widow small unmanned aircraft system, further expanding the platform’s regional footprint. The company expects to deliver an undisclosed number of systems later this year.
Each system comprises two Black Widow aircraft, a ground control station, and mission-specific support equipment. According to Red Cat, this is the latest in a series of recent military procurements of the Black Widow in the Asia-Pacific market.
The Black Widow is purpose-built for tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations and features a rugged, compact design suited for deployment in demanding environments. Secure communications architecture ensures reliable data links for military users.
In standard form, the UAV weighs about 1.93 kilograms and has a top speed of 47 kilometers per hour. It offers endurance in excess of 50 minutes and an operating range of approximately 8 kilometers. The platform can be enhanced with Reveal Farsight 3D mapping software, providing real-time 3D terrain visualization, along with tools for target detection, tracking, and classification to support mission execution.
