Autonomous systems developer Overland AI announced a $100 million funding round aimed at expanding operational deployment of robotic ground vehicles across U.S. military formations. The financing package, led by 8VC with participation from multiple venture firms and supplemented by $20 million in venture debt, supports scaling of the ULTRA autonomy platform. The company emphasized its shift in 2025 from prototype testing toward real-world operational use, including participation in DARPA’s resilience-focused autonomy programs. ULTRA systems are being adapted for missions such as contested resupply, breaching operations, and counter-drone defense. The funding aligns with wider Department of Defense experimentation efforts, including Project Convergence and related autonomy initiatives that integrate robotic vehicles into infantry support and networked battlefield architectures.
