India’s Axiscades Technologies and the French defense business Cilas have inked a memorandum of agreement to bring the Helma P high energy laser counter drone system to India.
The system will be integrated with Axiscades’ command and control architecture and its mobile, vehicle-mounted counter drone platforms as part of the project.
The goal of self-sufficiency in India’s defense industry will be aided by the indigenization of sensors, command and control, and local maintenance, which will also satisfy the nation’s operational needs.
Helma P
The tried and tested system can accurately identify, track, and neutralize nimble targets in crowded metropolitan settings as well as open operational theaters.
The Helma-P has already been used in real-world situations, such as the Paris 2024 Olympics, proving its value in a high-profile security context.
It has a longer range of engagement of 1.7 km (0.62–4.34 mi) and can neutralize threats by physically destroying them or optically jamming them.
The system produces its effects silently with a very little visible footprint and uses no ammunition, which reduces firing expenses per engagement.
Helma-P is capable of neutralizing robots, radars, improvised explosive devices, rockets, artillery, and mortars, in addition to unmanned aerial systems.
