In a decisive move to reinforce its drone-based intelligence and surveillance network, India’s armed forces have placed a landmark order for ideaForge’s new-generation UAVs. After enduring tests performed under intense electronic-warfare interference and mountainous terrain, the company’s drones were cleared for procurement under a 1-billion-rupee ($11.3 million) emergency acquisition order.
The contract allocates 750 million rupees ($8.5 million) for the Zolt tactical UAV, which underwent rigorous field evaluations to validate its performance in jammed environments. The SWITCH 2 VTOL drone—already in active use—secured an additional 300-million-rupee ($3.39 million) order, strengthening its operational footprint across border sectors.
This procurement is considered a strategic step in India’s larger effort to harden its ISR and precision-delivery architecture, particularly across high-friction border zones. The Zolt platform is engineered for extended-range reconnaissance, target monitoring, and payload-based precision actions, making it suitable for both tactical and high-altitude missions.
ideaForge’s growth within the nation’s defense structure has been rapid. In June 2025, the company received a 1.37-billion-rupee order for mini VTOL UAVs, marking one of its largest government contracts. Additionally, ideaForge drones now support civil agencies such as the NDRF, state police departments, and infrastructure bodies in missions involving mapping, emergency response, and critical asset security.
