Huntington Ingalls Industries is progressing development of its ROMULUS unmanned surface vessel family, with a prototype scheduled for sea trials in late 2026. Designed for long-endurance, open-ocean operations, ROMULUS supports missions ranging from ISR and mine countermeasures to strike and counter-drone operations. Measuring about 190 feet, the vessels can travel up to 2,500 nautical miles and operate at speeds exceeding 25 knots. At the core is HII’s AI-driven Odyssey autonomy suite, enabling single-vessel control or coordinated swarm operations.
