The French arms procurement agency (DGA) has given Paris-based defense tech business Harmattan AI a contract to provide 1,000 AI-equipped combat drones.
From October to December, the French Army will receive the multi-million dollar contract.
French forces will receive training and operational preparation using the unnamed quadcopter micro-drones, including training in the Orion 2026 multinational military exercise. The 1.8-kilogram (4-pound) platform, created entirely by Harmattan AI, is intended to be “autonomous, scalable, and combat-ready,” according to the French business.
The unidentified drone has a range of 2 kilometers (1.24 miles) and can fly for 40 minutes.
It has an electro-optical camera and may be outfitted with a supplementary infrared camera.
