UAE-based EDGE Group and French shipbuilder CMN Naval have launched the first BR71 MK II Combattante-class corvette for the Angolan Navy in Cherbourg, France. The ship, named NRA Ekuikui II, is part of a €1-billion agreement signed in 2023 to supply three modern warships aimed at strengthening Angola’s maritime security capabilities. The vessel is expected to be delivered in October 2026, while the remaining ships will follow in 2027. The 71-meter corvette is designed for patrol, surveillance, and security operations across Angola’s maritime domain. It will also deploy HT-100 unmanned helicopters developed by ANAVIA for intelligence and data-gathering missions.
