Spain is seeking to revive its long-range rocket artillery capability through an indigenous SILAM solution proposed by EM&E Group and Rheinmetall Expal Munitions. Designed as a fully national program, the phased concept includes operational launchers, guided munitions, and supporting vehicles. The effort replaces a canceled Elbit-led project and aligns with Spain’s broader defense-industrial strategy. While technical details remain undisclosed, the system is expected to leverage Rheinmetall’s experience with GMARS, which combines a wheeled chassis with launcher technologies derived from HIMARS and M270, enabling compatibility with NATO-standard munitions.
