SpaceX has secured a series of Pentagon launch contracts to support next-generation missile warning and tracking satellite constellations in low-Earth orbit. Valued at $739 million, the missions will support both the Space Development Agency and the National Reconnaissance Office by deploying Tracking Layer satellites and experimental fire-control spacecraft designed to improve missile defense performance. The launches, scheduled between 2026 and 2028, aim to enhance detection and tracking of highly maneuverable missile threats. The contracts are part of the National Security Space Launch program, which leverages commercial providers to reduce costs and increase launch flexibility. The initiative complements wider US investments in space security, communications protection, and counter-space capabilities.
