Slovenia has expanded its air defense by ordering two more IRIS-T SLM units under Germany’s European Sky Shield Initiative. This follows its January 2024 order and includes radars, launchers, and full support packages. The IRIS-T SLM system, mounted on Rheinmetall trucks, provides 360-degree protection against aerial threats with a 40 km range. The ESSI initiative promotes joint defense procurement to improve NATO defense readiness.
