The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has carried out the first flight test of the IADWS, India’s latest integrated air defense shield. The system incorporates surface-to-air missiles, short-range interceptors, and an advanced laser weapon, enabling layered coverage against a wide range of threats. The laser arm adds the ability to engage small, fast-moving targets with minimal cost per shot. This innovation underscores India’s commitment to self-reliant defense solutions and elevates its standing in directed-energy weapon development.
