Teledyne FLIR Defense has been awarded an $11.2-million contract to provide more than 45 R80D SkyRaider unmanned aerial systems for US Army chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) missions. The drones will support troops operating in hazardous environments by conducting semi-autonomous reconnaissance, search, and survey operations. Equipped with the company’s MUVE B330 biological sensor and additional CBRN payloads, the platforms are designed to detect and identify threats in real time while reducing personnel exposure to contaminated areas. The procurement enhances the Army’s ability to conduct rapid hazard assessment and situational awareness during complex operations.
