The US Army has awarded L3Harris Technologies a major contract valued at up to $465 million to supply advanced binocular night-vision systems. The program, spanning seven years, focuses on delivering the NOVA helmet-mounted device, which offers enhanced visibility and situational awareness in complex operational environments. NOVA incorporates next-generation image intensification and digital enhancements, enabling soldiers to operate effectively in low-light and adverse weather conditions. The system represents a significant upgrade over legacy night-vision equipment, aligning with the Army’s long-term modernization strategy. This effort builds on previous deployments of Enhanced Night Vision Goggles, with tens of thousands already in service. Alongside L3Harris, companies like Elbit Systems have played a key role in advancing night-vision capabilities. The continued investment underscores the importance of night dominance in modern warfare, where visibility and rapid decision-making are critical to mission success.
