Paris has announced it will temporarily replace a radar component of Ukraine’s SAMP/T missile defense system while the original unit is being serviced, safeguarding the system’s operational readiness amid ongoing aerial threats. The replacement reflects coordination with manufacturer MBDA, which has expanded missile production capacity in recent years to meet demand. The SAMP/T system, built by Eurosam, combines advanced radar tracking with Aster-series interceptors to counter aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic threats simultaneously. As France and Italy modernize their own fleets with enhanced variants, Ukraine continues to rely on the system as part of its layered defense network. Italy’s NATO deployments and Denmark’s adoption of the SAMP/T NG further highlight the platform’s expanding European footprint. France’s move signals both industrial responsiveness and sustained strategic commitment to reinforcing Ukraine’s air defense infrastructure.
