India is developing a layered hypersonic strike ecosystem comprising systems such as the Dhvani Hypersonic Glide Vehicle, LR-AShM, and ET-LDHCM. These platforms integrate nuclear deterrence, anti-ship warfare, and precision strike roles. Speeds exceeding Mach 5–8 and advanced scramjet propulsion enable high survivability and maneuverability. A key milestone includes DRDO’s successful long-duration scramjet test, sustaining combustion for over 12 minutes. This marks a transition toward deterrence through penetration, enabling India to bypass advanced air defense systems and enhance strategic flexibility.
