India is nearing finalization of a major deal to procure 400 Astra Mk-1 beyond-visual-range missiles, developed by DRDO and produced by Bharat Dynamics Limited. With a range of approximately 110 km, the missile significantly enhances the Indian Air Force’s combat reach. Already deployed on the Su-30MKI, the Astra program is expanding to platforms such as MiG-29K and Tejas Mk-1. Featuring advanced radar seekers and resistance to electronic warfare, the missile strengthens India’s indigenous defense capabilities while reducing reliance on imported systems.
