Three Zambian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations mission in the Central African Republic were wounded after armed militants linked to Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces and former Seleka fighters attacked a UN base near the Sudanese frontier. The assault occurred in the strategically important town of Am Dafock, prompting the UN to strongly condemn the incident and warn that it could constitute a violation of international law. Local authorities reported multiple fatalities during the clashes and called for additional military support as instability from the Sudan conflict continues to spill across regional borders.
