Britain is planning major changes to its defense procurement framework that would financially reward contractors for timely performance and innovation while lowering profit protections for low-risk projects. The reforms target the Single Source Contract Regulations governing sole-source Ministry of Defence contracts and include larger incentive payments for companies assuming greater delivery risk or improving productivity. London also intends to reduce reporting burdens on smaller defense firms by increasing compliance thresholds from 5 million to 25 million pounds. The measures are part of broader efforts to modernize procurement, accelerate innovation, and encourage greater participation from SMEs and emerging technology providers.
