Gore is developing a single-layer all-weather insulation jacket for the U.S. Army’s Soldier Enhanced Program, replacing the current two-layer system. The jacket weighs 482 grams, reduces pack volume by 40%, and combines a fleece inner layer with a laminated Windstopper membrane, suitable for –40 to 30°F. Field trials are underway in Vermont and Alaska. The program is part of broader modernization efforts, including heat-regulating undershirts, sensor-equipped flame-resistant clothing, and lighter body armor, with initiatives such as Soldier 2025 focusing on adaptive fabrics and integrated power systems.
