Thales is addressing the challenge of detecting concealed snipers in daylight with a new lightweight spotting system that can be carried by individual soldiers. By combining filtered goggles with a laser-mounted beam shaper, the Modular Counter Sniper System actively scans for optical glint from hostile shooters. The company says the design distills the core functionality of larger systems into equipment troops already carry, improving usability and deployment speed. Focused on daytime missions, the solution fills a gap in existing counter-sniper capabilities as Thales moves toward a market-ready configuration.
