Skydio, a California-based drone manufacturer, has secured a contract to supply its X10D small unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to the Norwegian Armed Forces. The deal, worth 101 million Norwegian kroner (approx. $9.8 million), includes an unspecified number of drones built to U.S. military standards. Each X10D features advanced sensors, including a 48- to 64-megapixel camera and a Teledyne FLIR thermal imaging device, designed to enhance real-time situational awareness. Capable of launching in under 40 seconds, the system can fly at speeds up to 45 miles per hour, stay airborne for up to 40 minutes, and operate in electronically contested environments thanks to its electronic warfare capabilities.
