The Danish government has entered into a seven-year framework agreement with Rheinmetall for the supply of ammunition across multiple platforms, including infantry fighting vehicles, air defense systems, main battle tanks, and artillery. The contract is valued at several hundred million euros.

Initial procurements under the medium-caliber category consist of 30×173mm and 35×228mm ammunition, with total quantities reaching the high five-digit range and a combined value in the low three-digit millions of euros.

The 30×173mm rounds are intended to support Denmark’s mobile short-range air defense capability, following the country’s 2024 acquisition of Rheinmetall’s Skyranger 30 system. The system integrates a 30mm cannon with missiles and sensors and employs programmable airburst ammunition to counter drones and other small aerial threats.

The 35×228mm cartridges will equip Denmark’s CV9035 IFVs fitted with the Bushmaster III 35mm cannon. Denmark has recently expanded its CV90 fleet with an order for 44 additional vehicles from BAE Systems, supplementing an earlier 2024 order for 115 vehicles. In addition, Rheinmetall will deliver more than 1,000 rounds of 120mm kinetic-energy tank ammunition, with that portion of the contract valued in the high single-digit million-euro range.
