Singapore is moving to strengthen its defenses against advanced unmanned aerial threats through a new cooperation agreement with Epirus focused on high-power microwave systems. Working with the Defence Science and Technology Agency, the initiative will explore non-kinetic countermeasures capable of disrupting drone electronics, including platforms immune to traditional jamming. Planned trials will evaluate the effectiveness of microwave effects against single targets and swarming drones, supporting Singapore’s efforts to protect critical infrastructure. The collaboration builds on Epirus’ recent live-fire test of its Leonidas system, which demonstrated the ability to defeat fiber-optic guided drones using directed electromagnetic energy instead of physical interceptors.
