BAE Systems, Boeing, and Saab have formed a partnership to offer a next-generation pilot training solution for the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force based on Boeing’s T-7 advanced jet trainer. The proposal includes establishing a final assembly and integration facility in the UK to support domestic production and long-term aircraft sustainment.The planned training system would combine the T-7 aircraft with advanced simulator technologies to prepare RAF pilots for current and future combat platforms, including the Eurofighter Typhoon, F-35, and future sixth-generation aircraft. The system is designed with upgrade flexibility to adapt to evolving aviation requirements.The partnership aims to strengthen Britain’s aerospace industrial base by creating local supply chains, supporting skilled employment, and increasing national control over pilot training capabilities. The proposal follows the T-7A Red Hawk’s progress in the US Air Force program, where the aircraft has advanced into low-rate initial production.The companies previously signed an agreement to explore opportunities for the UK’s future fast-jet training requirements and have continued developing plans for domestic manufacturing and support infrastructure.
