The UK and Norway have become the newest members of the multinational Common Armored Vehicle System (CAVS) program, joining Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, and Denmark. Spearheaded by Patria, the initiative delivers a modern 6×6 armored platform designed to unify allied mobility solutions. The vehicle, based on Patria’s combat-proven 8×8 model, balances protection, payload, and mobility, offering a top speed of 100 km/h and operational range of 700 km. It weighs up to 20 tons, seats 10 passengers plus crew, and adapts to multiple mission types. Since 2020, CAVS has gained momentum, with nearly 1,000 vehicles on order. The UK and Norway’s entry ensures further economies of scale, boosts NATO-standard interoperability, and highlights the growing importance of cooperative defense programs amid heightened European security challenges.
