As part of its effort to enhance national maritime operations, the Peruvian Navy has inaugurated and launched two Pativilca-class offshore patrol vessels. The BAP Río Huarmey (PM 210) and BAP Río Nepeña (PM 211) are two of ten boats planned for surveillance, anti-piracy, environmental response protection, and search and rescue operations. The vessels built under the Pativilca-class program are modeled after South Korea’s Tae Guk-class guard ship design.
