Turkey has unveiled the ALKA-KAPLAN—a hybrid tracked combat vehicle merged with a high-energy laser weapon, purpose-built for neutralizing modern battlefield drone threats. Developed collaboratively by ROKETSAN and FNSS, this platform combines the advanced ALKA Directed Energy Weapon System with the agile, electrically powered KAPLAN HYBRID vehicle. The resulting system can both jam targets electronically (soft-kill) and destroy them using directed energy (hard-kill) solutions in real time.
The ALKA-KAPLAN is designed to support mechanized units by providing a mobile, flexible shield against mini and micro UAVs, loitering munitions, and even improvised explosive devices. Its hybrid powertrain, AI-powered threat detection, and ability to perform autonomously make it ideally suited for the high-tech demands of modern warfare. The system will make its official public appearance at the 2025 IDEF defense expo in Istanbul.
