The USMC has selected Teledyne FLIR Defense for a $42.5-million procurement of over 600 Rogue 1 loitering munitions, marking the largest OPF-L order to date. Deliveries begin this summer and include controllers, training systems, and logistics support. Teledyne already fulfilled an earlier $12-million order for 127 systems used in operational assessments. The OPF-L effort is designed to give Marine rifle squads an organic precision-strike asset that can loiter, surveil, and attack beyond direct-fire ranges. The competition, capped at $249 million over five years, includes AeroVironment’s Switchblade 300 Block 20—now with improved penetration, attack angles, endurance, and communications—and Anduril’s Bolt-M. Both Bolt-M and Rogue 1 were developed specifically for this program. Rogue 1’s VTOL design, multi-effect warheads (EFP, forward-fragmenting, and trainer variants), and recoverable fuzing significantly reduce resupply burdens. The system also integrates advanced EO/IR sensors and high-resolution FLIR technology, delivering precise engagement options even in complex environments.
