Sweden has placed an order with Finnish arms manufacturer Sako for an additional 22,500 Automatkarbin 24 (AK 24) assault rifles to enhance its military capabilities.
This procurement is part of a collaborative agreement established with Finland in March 2021, aimed at jointly modernizing their firearm systems in response to shifting defense needs. The initial rifle acquisition was jointly announced by both nations in March 2023.
