Sweden has announced a significant investment exceeding $900 million to enhance its air and drone defense capabilities. The funding will support the acquisition of advanced radar systems, anti-aircraft weapons, and electronic warfare platforms. This initiative forms part of a broader effort to strengthen national defense amid evolving regional security challenges. Contracts have been signed with key defense manufacturers, including Saab and BAE Systems Bofors, with deliveries expected to commence in 2027. The investment reflects a strategic shift toward increased European defense autonomy, as nations seek to bolster their capabilities in response to growing geopolitical uncertainties.
