Saab has secured a major Swedish defense order to deliver its Trackfire Remote Weapon Station under a SEK 1.5 billion contract aimed at enhancing the country’s amphibious and coastal combat capabilities. The procurement forms part of the Amphibious Battalion 2030 program, which is focused on countering emerging threats in littoral environments while aligning Swedish forces with NATO operational standards. Trackfire offers a flexible, modular solution capable of engaging ground, surface, and aerial targets while on the move. Its advanced sensor package is decoupled from the weapon axis, allowing operators to maintain a steady line of sight even during sustained fire. The system’s counter-drone role is strengthened through the use of the M230LF chain gun and proximity-fused ammunition. Additional compatibility with machine guns, grenade launchers, and electronic jamming systems ensures adaptability across mission profiles, from mobile combat units to fixed site defense.
