Sweden has placed a 2.1-billion-krona order with Saab for new sensors and a brigade-level command-and-control system to reinforce its mobile ground-based air defense. The package includes Giraffe 1X radars, the LSS Lv C2 system, integration work, studies, and spares, with deliveries scheduled from 2027 to 2028. Saab will also study integration of its AMB radar to complement medium-range detection. Giraffe 1X offers 360° coverage, detects small objects like drones at up to 4 km, and can be deployed in fixed or mobile configurations. The LSS Lv system provides coordinated engagement management, threat-sharing, and operational planning.
