At the Tailhook Symposium, Sierra Nevada Corporation introduced the Freedom Trainer, its entry in the Navy’s UJTS competition to replace T-45 jets. The program envisions over 200 new trainers by 2030. Unlike competitors based on existing aircraft, Freedom is an entirely new design built specifically for carrier training. It is the only jet capable of full carrier landing practice, despite that requirement being dropped, and features a robust structure designed for 16,000 flight hours. With advanced carrier-landing simulation at reduced cost, Freedom stands out as a modern and economical platform for preparing future Navy aviators.
