HMS Duncan has demonstrated advanced counter-drone warfare capabilities after successfully completing a demanding multi-domain exercise involving live and simulated threats. Conducted near Aberporth, the event challenged the Type 45 destroyer with realistic swarm scenarios featuring UAVs, simulated missiles, and autonomous surface craft. Developed by QinetiQ and Inzpire, the training pushed detection, tracking, and engagement systems to operational limits. The warship eliminated multiple airborne targets and neutralized hostile unmanned boats, highlighting the Royal Navy’s readiness against emerging drone swarms. The drill forms part of broader British efforts to modernize layered air defense through kinetic interceptors, microwave weapons, and electronic warfare solutions capable of disrupting enemy drones without relying solely on traditional munitions.
