Rheinmetall has been contracted by Ukraine to provide 35mm ammunition for the Gepard anti-aircraft weapon. The new order, which is supported by Germany, consists of 180,000 rounds of High Explosive Incendiary with Tracer (HEI-T) ammunition. The shells may be used to target a variety of airborne targets, including drones. The ammunition will be produced by Rheinmetall at its factory in Unterlüß in northern Germany, where the company increased its production line in 2023.
