The Norwegian military is enhancing its sniper capabilities with a newly signed $9 million contract awarded to Bertel O. Steen Defence & Security. The deal will provide forces with Thermis Mk2 thermal scopes—advanced sights capable of functioning seamlessly in both light and dark operational settings.

These state-of-the-art scopes will be used with the M107A1 rifles acquired from Barrett Firearms, bolstering Norway’s long-range engagement arsenal. Theon International of Greece is tasked with manufacturing the sights, which will be shipped to Norway in September 2025. This acquisition supports a broader modernization initiative across Norway’s armed services.
