Poland is preparing to deliver an initial batch of up to nine MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, pending resolution of technical and logistical details. Government approval has already been secured, and the remaining steps focus on ensuring the aircraft are ready for transfer, including coordination with Kyiv and verification of maintenance requirements.

Secretary of State Paweł Zalewski confirmed that the first delivery will include fewer than ten jets. The program reflects Poland’s effort to provide military assistance while phasing out older MiG-29s in line with modernization plans, replacing them with FA-50 aircraft and the upcoming F-35 fleet. Poland is also exploring exchanges with Ukraine involving drone technologies as part of broader defense cooperation.
