Paraguay is set to field self-propelled artillery for the first time following Brazil’s planned donation of six M108 105 mm tracked howitzers. The transfer strengthens bilateral defense cooperation and introduces mobile indirect fire support to Paraguay’s army at minimal acquisition cost. Though an older Cold War-era system, the M108 provides improved mobility and survivability compared to towed guns, supporting doctrinal modernization within the force.
