The UK’s Fleet Solid Support program has entered the production phase with Navantia commencing module construction in Spain. The collaborative shipbuilding effort spans facilities in Spain, England, and Northern Ireland, underscoring the multinational nature of the £1.6-billion program. Once completed, the three logistics vessels will significantly enhance the Royal Fleet Auxiliary’s ability to support sustained naval operations without reliance on port access. Measuring 216 meters in length and displacing 39,000 tons, the ships are designed to operate alongside aircraft carriers, enabling extended global deployments while strengthening logistical resilience for the Royal Navy’s surface fleet.
