Naval Group and Metlen have formalized an expanded collaboration through a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening their joint role in submarine and surface combatant programs. Signed in Volos, the agreement is designed to elevate Metlen’s role within Naval Group’s global supply chain, positioning it as a strategic industrial partner. The partnership builds on ongoing cooperation tied to both French and Hellenic Armed Forces programs, where Metlen already contributes critical components. This move reflects a broader ambition to deepen industrial integration while enhancing production efficiency and technological exchange. Beyond domestic defense requirements, both companies intend to jointly market their capabilities to international customers, signaling a push toward export growth. Their cooperation dates back to 2022 under the Hellenic Navy’s FDI frigate initiative, which also introduced a framework incorporating over 70 Greek firms into Naval Group’s supply ecosystem. Meanwhile, Metlen continues to expand its defense footprint via its subsidiary M Technologies, including plans for a multi-facility industrial hub in Volos that will support advanced manufacturing and European defense projects.
